Lymphatic Drainage Therapy, also know as Manual Lymph Drainage or MLD aims to gently and rhythmically move the lymph through the body, especially swollen areas, relieving pressure and enhancing the functioning of the immune system. Manual Lymph Drainage® promotes healthy connective tissue, enhances the body's immune response, relieves pain, and sedates the sympathetic nervous system. As both a preventative and remedial technique, MLD can be used for a wide range of purposes including faster recovery from injury and surgery, reduction of swelling and discomfort from pregnancy, and strengthened resistance to illness. It is specifically indicated as safe for post oncology treatments where lymph nodes have been removed, to speed healing and improve results after cosmetic surgeries such as liposuction, tummy tucks and breast lifts, and to support detoxification and healing for auto-immune disease.
Deep Tissue Massage
Deep Tissue Massage is a form of bodywork that aims to relieve tension in the deeper layers of tissue in the body. Deep Tissue Massage is a highly effective method for releasing chronic stress areas due to misalignment, repetitive motions, and past lingering injuries. Due to the nature of the deep tissue work, open communication during the session is crucial to make sure you stay relaxed, take conscious breaths and don't get beyond the border of therapeutic comfort. Keep in mind that while mild soreness can occur after the treatment, pain is never the goal or the intention. Plenty of water should be ingested to aid with the flushing and removal of toxins that can be released from the deep tissue during the session. Often, Deep Tissue Massage will be combined with other types of bodywork during a session.
Swedish Massage is a very relaxing and therapeutic style of bodywork. It combines oils or lotion with an array of strokes such as rolling, kneading, and percussion to help the body improve its circulation. The benefits of this type of bodywork are wide-ranging and include relief from aches and pains, decreased stress levels in the body, enhanced mental clarity, improved appearance, and greater flexibility.
Neuromuscular therapy is a comprehensive system of techniques for acute and chronic pain syndromes which uses specific massage therapy, flexibility stretching, and home care to help bring about balance between the musculoskeletal system and the nervous system, eliminating the causes of most neuromuscular pain patterns. NMT enhances the function of joints, muscles and biomechanics (movement) and it accelerates the overall healing process by facilitating the release of endorphins, the body's own natural pain killers.
Pregnancy Massage is a style of bodywork designed specifically for pregnant women. Pregnancy is a time when a woman's body endures tremendous stress due to dramatic physical and emotional changes. Using various techniques specially developed for the expecting mother, Pregnancy Massage helps release the pain and discomfort experienced throughout pregnancy. Special supports are used to safely position the pregnant client on her side, or reclining, to ensure optimum comfort and health for mother and baby. The benefits are profound, including emotional support, the relief of joint pain due to extra weight and postural imbalance, and improved breathing and relaxation.
Reflexology is a type of bodywork that focuses on applying pressure to the specific nerve zones in your feet. Unlike other foot massages that intend to mostly relieve tension in the feet themselves, reflexology is a far more in-depth science that aims to harmonize your entire body. According to reflexology, every part of the human body is mapped into your feet. Reflexology treatments have been found to be highly effective for conditions such as allergies, headaches, and depression.
Myofascial massage is a technique used to treat injuries and discomfort, reducing pain and increasing range of motion. Myofascial massage differs from other types of massage in that it targets the fascia - the membrane surrounding muscles - rather than the muscle itself. Since fascia, or connective tissue, completely encases every muscle in the body, imbalances in the fascia can have serious effects on your range of motion and comfort level. While other forms of massage can overlook the fascia, myofascial massage focuses specifically on releasing tension in this important membrane.
